I’ve been told by several of my fans that I should probably make a new post soon or otherwise others may lose interest. Therefore, I am finally posting something to feed those hungry for something new from here. I don’t have anything of great significance to say at the moment, so I’ll just ramble a bit about various things.

The thing I did just before writing this was to complete my draw for the Monte Carlo Masters tennis tournament at ATP World Tour Draw Challenge . It is a fantasy football-like thing for tennis. Before doing the bracket I bought a big cupful of loose leaf Darjeeling tea for $5.00. I think I got a pretty good deal. The guy at the counter didn’t know the official price so he just made up a price. Now I’ll have tea to drink at work again.

I recently finished another one of my Christmas exchange books. That one was called “Islands in the Net” by Bruce Sterling. The story was set in the year 2023 and I kept having problems with not thinking about the dated feeling while reading it. The book was published in 1988 and there has now been enough time elapsed to see how accurate the book turned out to be. There were small details that the author missed such as printers still using paper with perforated strips, like the paper used with dot matrix printers. Anyway, I wasn’t too engrossed in the story and it took me longer to read than normal. It wasn’t a horrible book, but I didn’t care for it that much.

I am now reading “The Lost Swords: The First Triad” by Fred Saberhagen, which was another Christmas gift. I’m enjoying it so far. The book has a very Dungeons and Dragons feel to it with wizards which use magic very much like wizards in D&D. I seem to end up reading fantasy novels where magic seems to be purposely unlike D&D, so it almost seems weird to be reading a book where it is more D&D-ish. I’m very close to finishing the first part of the triad, so I figure it won’t take me too long to finish the whole book.

I think I’ve run out of stuff to talk about for now. Stay tuned and perhaps in a month or so I’ll throw another small chunk of food out to the hungry masses of fans waiting for something new from me.
